2000 Dodge Durango 5.2L 318 with 300K+ miles. Truck skipped a little a week prior and than completely died one morning between the New Jersey Bearers at a toll booth. Had it towed home and have been trouble shooting everything possible. The vehicle will crank but has no spark. The only option left is to purchase a PCM and hope it is that unless you have another idea of what I can look at.

There is no spark emitting from the top of the coil when checked, however there is 12 volts supplying the coil swapped in a new coil, no spark. check for any codes using a basic OBD device and found no codes however having over 300K miles on it I went and replaced both the original cam and crank shaft senors, (if they are not bad now they soon will be) Still no spark. The ASD Relay as power to the relay at pin #30 and pin#85 has 12-volts with the ignition key on run. I checked all the wires and connectors, no breaks or shorts. I doubted that it could be the PCM because it seemed to have a ghost in the machine, it quit a few times before but miraculously after a bit it re-fired, this happened once when it had about 35,000 miles on it, once last winter but we found that the ignition coil was bad (or at least not sparking) and normally when a PCM goes bad it goes bad right, being a computer it doesn't begin to fail, it just fails.
Any ideas

I did get it fixed in fact. I had a big short that I think happened in the coil and took out the PCM and the Crank Shaft sensor. But after replacing those i still had no spark. I checked out the MAP sensor the idle positioning sensor and both O2 sensors, still no luck so I went back to square one. I pulled the new crank shaft senor and compared it to the original, I noticed that they did not have the same angle from the mounting flange. As such is wasnt picking up the gaps on the fly wheel keeping the PCM from grounding out the coil - no spark. I bent the new crank sensor a bit so that the end was at the same position and angle and lined up exactly like the original one. Put it back in and it fired right up. who would have thunk it?

Wow. Thanks. I goy mine fixed now too. It ended up being the pick-up coil in between the distributor & distributor cap for me. We didnt think about that one & didnt see anyone replacing that on the posts either.
