My van failed the emission test because of a high NOx reading.

Does EGR system means the EGR valve itself? The cat converter was changed already and does changing the EGR valve helps to pass the emission test and lower the NOx reading? Thank you very much and your reply will be mostly appreciated.

the valve allows exhaust gases into the cylinder to cool down the process which produces the NO gas which you have failed for.
Also, what kind of a converter did you get?? if it was not factory, then most likely the cat is no good as aftermarket units do not have enough precious metals to keep the light out.
