Describe what it is doing. Is the starter the issue, or does it crank and not start?

When first turning the key switch you can hear the starter click once but does nothing after that if you turn the key off and back on the starter engages like normal.

It sounds like the solenoid on the starter is going bad. If the starter is hitting a bad spot on the solenoid or the actual motor's armature, that is what it will do. Also, check to make sure you don't have a corroded or loose battery connection. Next time it happens, take a hammar and tap on the starter. If it works, replace the starter. Check battery terminals first
