2000 Chrysler Other car won't start

Car started making a harsh rattling sound then it cut off and would not start after that. I changed the computer but that seems not to be the problem according to a free lance mechanic he said it's my camshaft. What is a camshaft and can it be fixed? if so how ? IT'S A CHRYSLER 300M.

check your oil first it may be low and have a pro check this not some free lancer unless he works in the business. the pic is the closest I could find which is pretty poor but they are under the valve covers of the engine this is picture of the timing belt so hope you can get the idea.
