Interior alarm at low RPM

My car produces an interior alarm "ding ding sound" when the engine is fully warmed up and idling at a stop light. The sound is similar to when the keys are left in the ignition with the door open. It's doesn't happen all of the time, and only happens when the engine is warm. Slightly increasing the engine RPM causes the alarm to stop. The alarm does not happen while driving except for the one time I was driving with the gas tank EXTREMELY low on fuel. Filling the gas tank eliminated the "ding noise".


The alternator had failed and it was recently replaced.

That means check the gauges to see what they're telling you. The most likely problem when it only occurs at idle and warm is low oil pressure. That can be caused by low oil level, worn engine bearings, or a defective sending unit.
