Spark plug wire came off from distributer while running. Stalled, replace wire back on. Wont start and no spark, why?

most likely has failed the distributor. common failure for this type of system

That did it, but now the idle is high and it misfires on one cylinder. Never had any issues prior to that wire coming out. Can I drive it to my mechanic 25 miles away?
