Connect the red positive cable from the charger to the post on the left strut tower. It's labeled and is about 15" from the left hood hinge. Connect the black negative cable to any paint-free part of the engine. Turn the charger on one of its lowest settings and let the battery charge for half an hour before trying to start the engine.
You can use a higher setting on the charger with newer batteries, but with older ones that will tend to accelerate how fast the lead flakes off the plates. That will not necessarily destroy a battery, but it can hurry up the day the battery finally dies a natural death.
High charging rates also can lead to blown fuses. Check them if some things on the car don't work. You can reduce the likelihood of this happening is you turn the charger off before trying to start the engine.
