I have a 2000 Chevy Venture that after the engine warms up in the summer will idle very fast. You have to hold the brake to keep the car stopped. Usually if you shut off the engine and restart, it will behave for a short time but then recurrs after two or three times returning to idle. No check engine light. Any ideas?

Clean the throttle body and idle air control.

When the problem occurs, tranny in park, block off the throttle body mouth. Should have a big effect on the idle, if no effect, you have false air coming in from somewhere, vacuum leak.
