I have tried putting an after market radio in my van, but when i get the adapter connected it wont come on. I have to connect either the dimmer or luminous wire to the Red power wire with the head lights turned on to get power, How do I wire it so I don't have to have the head lights on????

Use the ignition switch power from the existing wire to the radio
