2000 Chevrolet Silverado electrical

When I turn my key on all gauges work fine but when I start engine my tach, speedometer
fuel and temp go flat and when I try to drive tranny wont shift out of 3rd.
what could cause this?

have a trans guy scan it it may be in limp mode or there is something wrong internally.
