If a cable broke, most likely the parking brake pedal didn't get pulled back all the way to the released position. That will make the parking brake light stay on. The Anti-lock Brake Computer will see that light on while you're driving, and since it can come on for other reasons, it knows it might not be able to operate the anti-lock function during a hard stop, so it turns the system off, sets a diagnostic fault code, and turns the yellow ABS light on to tell you. Most likely the whole repair is going to consist of replacing the broken parking brake cable, and possibly visiting a mechanic to read and erase the fault code.
