engine shakes while idling

Whats wrong with my 2000 Chevy Malibu, it shakes while it is idling and when i'm coming to a stop, and when I park it, it has a burning smell coming from under the hood? The check engine light has been on, but now it is flashing. While i'm driving it has a loud rumbling noise to it.

If it is flashing, you have a misfire in one or more of the cylinders. You need to have the computer scanned to identify trouble codes. It should tell you which cylinder is missing. It may be as simple as a tune up, or with that many miles, it may need engine work.
