Power steering loss?

I turned a corner this morning, heard a loud sound. Thought I had run over a cardboard box or something immediatley my battery light came on and I lost power steering? I pulled over turned car off to see if it was the new battery. It was not. I was able to re start car drove the one mile back to my house car was overheating? If I broke a power steering hose, would car overheat like that?

You broke your serpentine belt is more likely since all the things that quit are driven by it. Put a new 1 on and you should be good to go.
