2000 Chevrolet Lumina hot transmission

the transmission changes gears smooth until the car is driven for a while and gets hot. then the transmission starts a bumping sentation. not bad just enough to aggrivate and worry. I was told it was not the transmission but a part to the transmission. I had the fluid changed and this didnt help. does anyone know the name of this part?

When you say that that the transmission bumps, does this happen when it is changing gears, coming to a stop of taking off from a stop?

What part did they tell you was causing the problem?

Is the Check Engine light on on the vehicle?
