What is the procedure to change a broken multifunctional turn signal lever in my 2000 Chevy Impala and replace with a new one? And how do I disable the SIR system?

First, you have to disconnect the battery for a minimum of 30 minutes before working on it. Otherwise, you could deploy the air bag. Next, the steering wheel comes off. From there, you will see the switch assembly. remove it, unclip the wiring harness, and replace.
