my chevrolet dont turn on

i have a Chevrolet express 2000 3500 and the ignition switch was locked i took it apart and found that something behind it is not turning what can be the problem

you mean the cylinder?? the gear behind it could be broken but i would wonder why.

can you start it without the cylinder??
