Yesterday afternoon I noticed my car AC was blowing hot air when idling. It was also starting to over heat. When I'm driving the ac if fine and the temp of the car starts to go down. Any ideas on the problem could be?

Check to see if fans are running. When a/c is on they both should work

Did you check fuse and relay like I suggested? As you know nothing about cars have a local pro look at it as it can be a wiring issue or coolant temp switch or a relay/fuse box problem.
