Makes clunking noise when shifting down from second to first. Plus it makes a clunking noise when shifting from park to reverse. Does this intermittently. Universal joints seem to be ok. Transmission fluid is clean and at proper level. Transmission shifts normal.

If you have torsion bar front suspension, go to the back of each bar, under the seats, and use a pry bar hooked on the frame rail to pry the bars up. (You might be able to push them up by hand too). If one or both move up, the rubber isolators the cross member is mounted on are torn and must be replaced.
