2000 Chevrolet Blazer Fuel Gauge Working Chevy Working Perfect Until Friend

Why is my fuel gauge not working? My 2000 chevy blazer fuel gauge was working perfect until my friend changed my fuel pump. The needle now sits on E when the engine is running and goes to halfway when the engine is shut off. The needle do the same thing no matter how much gas I put in it. My friend say he cant figure it out and I don't know what else to do.

most likely he disturbed the sender unit replacing the pump. remove the pump assembly to inspect
