WASHER PUMP RUNS CONTINOUSLY ON 2000 STS. WHY?

The winshield washer pump runs continously. Wipers run only when needed. Checked ground wires for pump - ok. Bought new washer pump - same problem.

Washer pump at switch could be shorted out -check and test
