Was there a low oil pressure message, or the indicator lamp after it shut off? It should not shut off, even during low oil pressure, because that could create a safety issue. I would guess that the vehicle has a stalling condition, did this occur during a stop? I would suggest crank sensors, as those are a common concern for a vehicle of your vintage. A diagnostic check would confirm this. Do you know how to obtain codes from your vehicles onboard diagnostic system?
