valves not closing and having multiple misfires

Had intake manifold gasket replaced and now valves not closing and having multiple misfires. What did they do wrong?

Not uncommon for this. when a mechanic is not careful they allow gasket material and dirt down inside the intake ports, this problem may or may not go away.
