What is 2 gear used for

On the truck listed above xtra cab. We have always use D for drive never used 2 in that is the only gear there is no 1 gear.

Hi:

That is nothing more than second gear. It will not shift from second when that is selected, so it will lack power when accelerating from a stop and will not be able to be driven fast without the engine racing.

The most usable purpose for it is if you are stuck in snow, mud, sand and so on. It will send less power to the rear wheels which lowers the chance of spinning the tires.
