I have a 1999 Volvo V70 and it won't start if I try to start it after I I turn off the engine for a short period of time but if I leave the engine off for and extended period of time like over night it has no problem starting. When I try to start it after a short period of time I just get a clicking sound. Do you know what is happening and what I need to do?

When the problem occurs, your saying the starter won't crank? Did you try cranking in neutral? If battery--charging system and connections are all good, I'd have to check the actual voltage reading at the starter, when problem is ongoing. Any testing, make sure the tranny is in park or neutral and a functional e-brake is set.

Some of the national brand autostores will test the starter for you, but, with intermittent issue, I don't know if starter will act-up?
