I know this is an old post, but in case someone else is reading this.

4 cyl Manual has two:

- Engine Speed Sensor or Crankshaft Position Sensor (mounted to
the right of the oil filter flange), failure of this sensor
results in the engine not running/starting

- Vehicle Speed Sensor - is the sensor in the transmission that
indicates vehicle speed, failure of this sensor results in speedometer
and odometer not working any more.

CPS: The crank position sensor provides an on-off signal to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) that the computer uses to monitor engine rpm, crank position and misfires

VSS: primary purpose is to monitor vehicle speed so the computer can regulate torque converter clutch lockup, up and down shifting, etc

The original poster has a standard transmission. Hence only 2 speed sensors.

If it were an auto tranny, there would be more.
