MAYBE INVESTIGATE THE CLUTCH MASTER CYLINDER FLUID LEVEL
LOOK FOR EXTERNAL LEAKS
I'D TRY REFILLING AND BLEEDING IT 1st
SOMETIMES BRAKE AND CLUTCH MASTER CYLINDERS DEVELOP WHAT SOME CALL AN "INTERNAL LEAK".....THIS IS WHERE THE RUBBER CUPS/ O-RINGS INSIDE THE BODY ALLOW FLUID TO SLIP BY THE PISTON.....ALTHOUGH THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO FLUID LOSS, THE PISTON SLOWLY SEEPS DOWN AS IT CAN NO LONGER EFFICIENTLY PUSH AND HOLD THE FLUID TO ACTIVATE THE BRAKES/ SLAVE CYLINDER........REBUILD OR REPLACEMENT IS NORMALLY THE FIX
WITH BRAKES YOU CAN FEEL THE PEDAL CREEPING TOWARDS THE FLOOR, WHEN IT SHOULD BE STOPPED ABOVE THE FLOOR
.......WITH A CLUTCH, THE SLAVE CYLINDER SLIPS BACK AND CANNOT HOLD THE PRESSURE PLATE/ CLUTCH COVER UP OFF OF THE CLUTCH DISC. SINCE YOUR PEDAL IS ALREADY DEPRESSED, YOU CANNOT FEEL IT (AS YOU CAN WITH BRAKES)
SOMETIMES PUMPING WILL GET YOU BY TILL IT GETS WORSE, BUT WITH A CLUTCH.......PUMPING MEANS YOU ARE ENGAGING AND DISENGAGING THE "GO" PART OF YOUR CAR.......NOT REAL SAFE IF YOU ARE BEHIND SOMEONE AT A LIGHT!
I SUGGEST YOU GET IT FIXED (WHATEVER STEPS NEEDED) BEFORE YOU HURTLE DOWN THE HIGHWAY AGAIN!
ON A SIMILAR NOTE, MY JEEPS OVER THE YEARS, USE MECHANICAL BELL-CRANKS AND RODS TO ACTUATE THE CLUTCH. OVER TIME THE RODS, "L" SHAPED INTO HOLE IN STEEL, EVENTUALLY ELONGATE THE HOLES AND/ OR AT THE SAME TIME "SAW" THRU THE RODS.......ON TWO OCCASIONS WHILE SITTING IN TRAFFIC AT A STOP LIGHT........MY CLUTCH PEDAL TO THE FLOOR AND IN 1st GEAR.....THE "L" SHAPED ROD BROKE OFF (FRICTION/ WEAR) AND SUDDENLY I LURCHED FORWARD ALMOST NAILING THE CARS IN FRONT OF ME
I HAVE UNPROVED MY SYSTEM WITH BEARINGS ON THE RODS, AND I STAY FURTHER BACK AT STOPS!
THIS SORTA SIMILAR THING COULD HAPPEN TO YOU!
