1999 Subaru Forester Just Had Water Pump Replaced Been Having Timing Issues

just had water pump replaced, have been having timing issues since, tore it down, visually checked timing marks got everything lined up properly put it back together car is running very rough, misfiring and backfiring, have done this three times and cant get it right.what should i be looking at now?

you need a timing belt that has the white marks on the belt for alignment then you have to get it right. it is tricky with slack
