Christmas eve this year [12/24/2010], my car decided to over heat! I have never had a problem with it at all!! I try to keep the oil changed on a regular basis. The day after [12/25/2010], I put water and coolant in the car. Today, it wanted to heat again. I am being told 500 different reasons as to why the car could be over heating. Please help!!!

I drive a 1999 Saturn SC-1 3 door. Not sure of the engine type though. :\

If you have a SC1 it has a single overhead cam engine. So when it overheats does it boil over the cap?How high does the temp gauge get when it overheats? Also is the radiator cooling fan on when it's overheating?

I do apologize for replying so late. I took my car to a mechanic and he said the head gasket was messed up. He also said maybe some water froze and I may not have had enough coolant. I appreciate your quick reply and I thank you for the help! :)
