I put car into drive and it just revs. It will drive on 1st and 2 nd and reverse. The tranny fluid looks like a light reddish brown color. Was told by friend that bands need adjusted. The car is a automatic. It starts up fine and there is no hesitation when I put it in 1 st, 2nd, and reverse. There is a leak from the tranny pan. Going to put fresh fluid and change filter

The fluid should be a light red or pinkish color. Has the check engine light come on? And as far as changing the fluid, I feel that would be a waste of money at this point. If there is no check engine light to indicate a trans trouble code, chances are there is internal damage in the transmission valve body.

Thanks for the advise. The check engine light is on. Going to have it checked out. Just didn't want to drive the car thinking it might make things worse.

If the light is on, that is a good thing. Have it scanned and hopefully, there will be a trans trouble code to indicate where the problem is coming from.
