I looked online but I can't tell what is an infrared keyless entry system. Is there an aftemart infrared keyless entry system that can replace my radio frequency one in my 1999 pontaic firebird. Can you send me a link for infrared system that replace it and can a mechanic replace it?

There are aftermarket remote systems that can work, check the one you are looking at to make sure it is compatable with your car. A mechanic can do it. Mainly he has to connect wires to the present system.
