My wife has a 99 grand voyager 3.3Lt. and the automatic 4 speed transmission went so I replaced it with a 4 speed automatic transmission from a 1997 voyager I had to swap the valve body and solinoid pack from my 99 with the valve body and silinoid pack from the 97 to make it work after I got done I went on test drive and the van runs rough and backfires especially when its damp outside it is also very hard to get in and out of park and uses a tremendes amount of gas what could be wrong I have changed spark plugs and wires

Not if the work was done properly. How does the transmission shift when you disconnect the linkage? You may have inadvertently disconnected something while performing your work. Make sure everything is properly connected and have the computer scanned for codes.

Try this, turn the key from off to on three times, on the fourth turn leave key in on position, count the flashes on the check engine light. Or read codes on the odometer. Post your findings.
