click when i turn the key

When I try to start my mini van I get a click when i turn the key and other times it starts right up. Can you tell me what the problem is? Almost everytime I try to start the van i get a click

check your battery and starter. most auto parts will do this for free. if youcan start the car with a jump most likely your battery is bad.
