Engine Problem

I have a 1999 Plymouth Neon. As of a few days ago it has started stalling when I'm on the highway. Further driving has the engine cutting out if I drive over 55 MPH for a bit and it won't immediately restart. Once the engine cuts out, if I wait 5-7 minutes the car will restart. What chould be causing this problem?

The most common cause is the camshaft position sensor failing by becoming heat-sensitive. It will work again when it cools down. The crankshaft position sensor can cause that too and fail the same way. Normally the Check Engine light will turn on and set a diagnostic fault code in memory that will indicate which circuit has the problem.
