I have a 1999 Plymouth Breeze and last week while I was driving it made a loud "clunk" noise and then started knocking. I pulled over and killed the car and then it started smoking. Do you have ANY idea what it might be?

Gotta hold your computer closer to the car. Without seeing it, my first guess would be a broken serpentine belt. Did you watch and listen with the hood up? Have you checked anything else? What area was the smoke coming from?
