I have a peugeot 206, 1.4 gsx sometimes when we stoped at a junction thebcars idle would spike to 2500rpm instead of 1000, so I did some investigating and ordered a idle control valve of ebay (stepper motor) and when I recieved it I put it in, this icv was shorter than the other and it would idle at 3000 rpm, so I put the old one back in, now it non stops idle at 3000 atraight after I start to drive it, however when it ticks over and starts ita at 1000 rpm. Please help? Thanks loads, Evan

Have you tried finding the correct IAC? Has the check engine light come on?

The engine light hasnt come on at all, however withbthe original ICV the problem was intermitant, so I put in a new one which wasnt the correct model and the idle was at 3000rpm. So Ive put the original one back in amd when I start it idle is fine, took it for a spin and got down the road came to a stop and the idle was at 3000 again. Any ideas?

If nothing is sticking on the throttle cable, the only thing I can say is the IAC is bad and you need the correct one.

Well after a lot of scratching my head, and messing around with the ICV, I noticed that the throttle cable was not stuck. However it was engaged, so I took of the tube that goes from the air filter and to my surprise there was something wedged under the valve so it couldent close properly, so I took this out and then took a look at my filter and saw that there was a hole the size of godzilla in it, and the bit that was in the valve was the filter itself. Anyhow the car now runs and idles fine. Thanks for your help!

Do you mean the air filter had a hole in it?
