ecu reset or not??

have a faulty idle control valve, engine cuts out sometimes at junctions or roundabouts, have bought a replacement, fitted it, engine runs at 3000rpm on idle! took that back out and put old one back in, engine runs at asround 750rpm(normal), do i need to get the ecu reset or recalibrated for the new valve?? i have a T reg 1.4lx 206 petrol

no ecu is needed .. why do you believe it is a faulty idle air control valve ??
