I put a used starter on my car from the wrecking yard from the same exact year model as mine. When I put the starter on it started right up so I turned it on and off about three times just to be certain if it would start again but as soon as I closed my hood on it and try to start it up again it wouldn't crank it make one click and want say anything.

check the connections to be sure they are tight (battery cables and starter wires--all).

Make sure battery is strong enough to operate the starter.
