im replacing the heater core... how much of the dash needs to come out? how do I take the dash off? is the core located on the passenger side? what do I do? I dont have $700 to have it done professionally?

You basically have to remove the entire dash area to get at it. You can remove all the bolts and pull it off to the side, then you have to remove the airbox. The air conditioning has to be evacuated properly. The airbags have to be disabled correctly. Trust me I have done some and so easy to get in over your head if you don't know what you are doing. If you do it yourself. Take good pictures so you know where everything goes.
