I just replaced the water pump on my 99 olds alero v-6. Now I dont have any heat (which was 1 of the reasons I changed water pump) should I change my thermostat also?

First feel the heater hoses after the engine has warmed up. They should be too hot to hold onto for very long. If they are, suspect the computer that runs the actuators on the heater box. GM has more than their share of trouble with them. If the hoses are not hot, try pinching off the upper radiator hose for a minute or two. If that brings the temperature up, suspect the thermostat.

Do you have a temperature gauge on the dash? If so, is it reading in the normal range?
