Hello,
On my 1999 Nissan Sentra GXE, can I recharge the AC with a can I buy from Autozone, or do I have to take it in somewhere to have it professionaly done?

Yes, you can get the gauge and Freon at any parts store. However, if there is a leak, you could lose the Freon. Does the AC work at all?

I've had this car for 14 years this Friday.. Rarely used the air, but a couple of weeks ago when I turned it on. It worked, but it wasn't cold air. So I just think it needs to be recharged, but didn't know if my model year allowed me to do it myself or if it needed to be taken in

You should be fine. If you need to retrofit it to take a different type of freon, it is just a matter of getting new connections and screwing them on to the existing ones.
