What would cause a roaring sound coming from rear of car while driving? Sounds like it is coming from the rear tire

Most probably a bad wheel bearing. Jack up the rear of vehicle, release the handbrake ans manuall spin the wheel. If there is a coarse noise, the bearing is bad. Compare the 2 sides, using one as the reference guide.

If you put your fingers on the strut spring while the wheel is turning, you would be able to feel the difference if the wheel bearing is bad.
