1999 Nissan Maxima crazy break light

Ok so I have one break light, the back left one, that is fine with the lights off. With the lights on the right break light works but the left one will not turn on. The bulbs are new and the left works in the right and the oppsite fails. Cant figure this out

This is typical of a broken ground wire for the socket of the bulb that acts differently depending if the tail lights are turned on or off.
