why do i have to jump my car to start

how often? every time? could be bad battery, weak alternator, bad connections, weak state, OR excessive drain on battery when car is off. have battery/alternator tested for free at chain autostore.

Have the charging system and battery checked at a place like advance auto parts, O'rielly's, or autozone (they provide this service for free). This can help to determine the problem and the diagnosis won't cost you anything.
