1999 Mitsubishi Mirage Alternator not charging battery

So does the battery lose charge with the engine running or With the engine off?

Also does you have a multi meter to do some testing?

I don't have my own meter. I've taken the car to O'Reilly and they put their meter on. The alternator is only charging at 11 volts, which is coincidentally the amount of charge on the battery. That tells me that the car is only running on the battery's charge and the alternator is not recharging it. If I run too long, the battery will die. The way it was explained to me (by a mechanic who happened to be at the parts store) is that there should be a fuse between the ignition and the alternator to check. I've looked online for a diagram of the fuse box on the driver's side and couldn't find anything other than a picture without explanation of what the fuses are for. I've been chasing down this problem for 2 weeks now.

A multi meter would help us check all the power inputs into the alternator. If you had one which there pretty cheap for a basic one we could check all the power inputs at the alternator?

Just looked at the wire diagram there is only fuseable links to the alternator no fuses so where is that multi meter?You will need that to test them white wire wire with a red stripe and the red wire with a black stripe should both have battery voltage at the alternator?

I'm at work right now so I can't work on the car. I was just wanting to know if there are any fuses that I could check when I get home.

I do have a test light, but not a meter.

You can try the test light see if the bulb is bright on those wires.You should really get a meter if you want to diy your car comes in real handy.Let me know what you find.

I took it to a mechanic and after checking it with a volt meter and checking every bit of the wiring, it turned out that the belt needed to be changed. Thank you for your help.
