growling/howling noise when excelerating

i have 1999 mercury sable 3,0 v6 fwd when excelerating i get a loug howling/growling noise from the front end im thinking it`s a wheelbearing any suggestions?

Is this noise only there when driving? if so i would be checking the front wheel bearings, there should be no play in the bearing if you rock top to bottom with wheel off the ground.

I ever met the same problem with you,noise can be a starter stuck in the starter gear. Bad news.If it stops after acceleration, look at fan belts, power steering, or in the engine mounts,there are more answers
