Tried to fuel up yesterday and had fuel spilling all over the ground. Saw that where the filler neck connects to the fuel tank was rusted clean off. I was thinking about using a piece of black iron pipe I already have and threading it into the tank, then jb weld to help seal it. Would that be safe? will the gas corrode the black pipe. This is for temp purpose only since I am low on funds now.

Why not, what is the big deal? Is it that you think it is unsafe? what is the difference with a tank with a nipple attached or the pipe going in. It is still going to be sealed?
