my 1999 cougar dies intermittantly, won't start intermittantly. It runs fine for a couple weeks then starts dying going down the road, or it runs fine but after or before work it won't start. If it dies you can restart it after about 5 min. when you get it home it may not start for 2 weeks. I don't an operators manual Helm's and Ford's manuals don't show correct fuse boxes making electrical checks difficult. the power dist. box looks like one for a 1998 mercury mystique according to those manuals. I had a shop look at this car and they said it had no fuel pressure and it was caused by anti theft but the light is not blinking

The next time it happens, switch the eec relay with another relay with the same part number to see if it will start.
