1999 Mercury Cougar 99 2 Dr V6 Started Lugging This Morning Also Same Time

My 99 cougar 2 dr v6 started lugging this morning. Also at the same time my speedometer stopped working. I stomped on the gas a couple times and the lugging stopped for a second and speedometer started. When I had the chance I took it to 60 and everything was working right. Once in town and second or third gear the lugging started and speedometer stopped. Any ideas?

scan or codes and check fuel pressure first. your vehicle speed senosr may ahve quit working causing the luggin and speddo to quit or there may be a short in the wires. but youshold have a code or your check engine light will be on.

I had it scanned and got nothing. My check engine light was on but that was for the O2, as soon as he reset it it stayed off.
