1999 Mercedes Benz Vito Gearbox leak

I have a gearbox oil leak from the thrust bearings I think it's making the gearbox a bit stiff with no play what should I do it still drives there's a occasional notice from the bearings when driven but when I press the clutch down it disappears

The transmission will have to be removed to replace the thrust bearing, if left it will start to seize up and damage the fingers on the pressure plate.

I feel that you may be looking at a 8 hrs to R&R the transmission, I would also be inspecting the clutch while the box is out, it may be worth doing the clutch as well while the box is out to save expense down the road, I would be getting a few quotes first, the dealers will be expensive but keep in mind it is not an overly technical job so any qualified mechanic should be able to do it at a reasonable cost, I would be expecting anyone quoting to be giving you a price on a clutch as well, so don't feel that you are being hit up for extra work, but inn the end it is your decision.
