Steering problems with turns

I am having problems with very hard steering when making right/left turns, worse that no-power steering. P/S pump has been replaced. Friend said rack and pinion, but I'm hoping for alternative to look at first. Seems fine when starting up but as engine warms up when it stiffens up. Any ideas?

Check the power steering pump fluid level and also look for bubbles in it while engine is running if present bleed the system don't work-have the rack and pinion checked thoroughly-
